Little Thing 5: Running

Hi there,

I have been doing a lot running lately. It can be tough especially the longer runs. But each time I go for a run I am glad that I have done so because it gives me the opportunity to get outside in the fresh air and get a bit of headspace while getting fitter.

As much as I like going to the gym in between my classes at college I do have to say that for me nothing quite beats the feeling of jogging through the local park and being out with nature.

Every time I am running I notice something different. Sometimes it’s the sun and the way it reflects on the river, other times it’s some cute dogs or sometimes it’s just the happy, grateful feeling I get when I have looked at my MyTracks app and see how far I’ve run and think “Yes I’ve done it!”.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I am grateful that I can run. I used to hate running and never did it except when I had to in P.E at school. I loved walking and swimming (I still do) but running was something I was never bothered with.

The other day I went for my second 10km run. I usually work myself up to it by doing shorter runs in between; usually a combination of 5km, 7km, 8.5km. I had stopped at 4.5km and thought I’d go back home, but I pushed myself onwards.

I went ran further to my local park and I saw the sun shine on the river and it made running the extra few kilometres totally worth it. I was so glad that I went out for a run that day. The scenery at the park was fabulous and it really lifted my mood.

    Such beautiful pictures! I used to go running, I’m so unfit at the moment it’ll take me a lil while to get back into it, but I used to love running and looking at the lovely surroundings! ❤

  2. The last couple of days have taught me how unhealthy I am, and I feel like this blog post is a sign that I need to start running. There’s a park not too far away for me that I’d love to go running in in the morning to give my brain the kick-start it needs… Or I guess I could try and walk more at work or something.

  3. Love this – I’m glad you take in your scenery and surroundings. I’ve never got into runnning, I’m more of a Yoga person. I love taking the dog for different walks. I leave my phone and headphones at home so I can appreciate my surroundings. I’m grateful that the days are starting to get longer, Spring doesn’t seem so far away! x
